How To Start A Sportswear Brand

The Complete Guide To Starting A Sportswear Brand

Do you want to start up a sportswear brand? Do you have some great design ideas or a cool new apparel concept? Can't you find the styles you are looking for? The time could be now for you to start up that brand you have been thinking of. But where do you start? How do you go about to make it all happen?

If you want to set up your own clothing brand, then this article is for you. We'll give you an overview of the steps involved in starting your own business, and information that you have to think about.

Starting Up

Step 1. Idea & Customer Need.

It all starts with an idea. Maybe you can't find the clothes you are looking for, or you have a strong design opinion that you want to show the world. You are better off if you can connect your idea to a customer need. If you strongly believe in your idea, you should go ahead and make it happen.

Step 2. Market Scan.

You have a great idea for sure. The question is: is it unique? Perform a thorough market scan. Search the web, visit shops and read relevant magazines. You want your brand to stand out in the competition and find your target niche. If some other brand already has your idea, you will always be number two.

Step 3. Business Plan.

It can be great to have a business plan if you want to bring other people on board, e.g. investors or partners. But primarily, the business plan is there for you. It forces you to ask yourself those tough questions and look at your business venture from different angles. The business plan is a living document that will change and evolve over time, usually things don't go exactly according to the initial picture in your head.

Step 4. Branding.

Put a lot of time and thought into your brand identity. There are many brands out there so you need to make yours stands out. Create brand awareness and loyalty that connects your customers to your label. It is important that your brand ties together with your actual products.

Step 5. Money.

Nothing is free. Nor to create a sportswear brand. In your business plan you have made an initial budget and you have an estimate of how much it will cost you to set it up. How will you finance it? Can family or friends help you? There are special start-up loans as well as investors to turn to. Going to an investor early on means giving away more of your company. But maybe that's the best way to get it started and make your dream a reality?

Step 6. Entrepreneurship.

Running your own business isn't a 9 to 5 job. It is not the hours you spend in the office that matters. What matters is what you produce. You are your own boss and you need to make it all happen. You will live and breathe your brand, working 24/7. All people have great ideas. The differentiator is that the entrepreneur makes them happen. It will require you to put in the work and follow through on your dream. Are you cut out for this or not? Is it really what you want?

Step 7. Team.

As mentioned in step 6, setting up your brand will require a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Can you do it all by yourself? Even if you can, is that the most efficient way to do it? Make sure to liaise yourself with talented and driven people that can help you out where you fall short. If you are a designer find a good business partner, and if you are a business person find a good designer. No one can do it all and you shouldn't either.

Step 8. Define The Collection.

Leaving the start-up phase behind you, it's now time to start the product development, the process of making your garments. The first step here is to define your collection. Focus on your brand identity, your vision, and the products you wish to create. Make sure your collection is clear and has cohesion.

Step 9. Design.

You have structured and defined your collection and the designer can start sketching. Get back to the inspiration and the brand image, and the customer you want to have. The styles should fit in with the vision and identity of your brand. The designer needs to make great tech packs so you can carry on with your product development.

Step 10. Sourcing.

Sourcing means finding factories, materials, and accessories. Materials is a science by itself. If you know your price points, performance requirement, and quality level, it will help you narrow down your search for the right materials. Accessories can be cords, zippers, pullers etc that you want to include in your garments. Then you need to find a factory that suits your needs, can produce your styles, and believe in your concept.

Step 11. Pricing.

In the start-up phase you had a first look at the costs and the prices for your styles and production. Now when the collection is defined, you have sourced materials and found factories, and hence production costs, you need to check your pricing again. Does it add up? Will it be profitable? Review all the posts in your budget and see how you can recalibrate it. In the end you want to live and work, doing what you love. You don't want it to be an expensive hoppy that you poor money into.

Step 12. Pattern & Prototype.

This is a very crucial part. Even though you have great designs on paper, you need to transform them into garments that look and feel the way you want. Based on the tech packs you need to find a good pattern maker, which isn't easy. The pattern is made in your wanted sample size and will later be graded to fit several sizes. With the pattern you will start making your prototypes. In between every prototype you will measure, fit, and adjust the pattern to improve your garment. Typically you will need 2-3 prototypes per style before you have a sample ready to show/sell.

Step 13. Production.

Once you have arrived at your final prototype (sales man sample), you can start planning the bulk production. Discuss this with your factory as early as you can. They need to plan in your production in their schedule. They of course need to know how big your production will be, the number or styles and sizes per style. We suggest you write an agreement with the manufacturer stating delivery times and quality requirements.

Step 14. Shipping.

You have the bulk production ready and need to get your fantastic garments to your customers. Depending on your sales strategy you can have one or more customers. There can be shops, end-users, and wholesalers. Take a look at your logistics, negotiate with transportation partners, and plan how you will repackage the goods to suit your designated customer.

Step 15. Marketing.

Let the world know your brand's story. Marketing is your products, your meetings, your communication, and everything you do in you business. Be honest in everything you do, let the customers understand why you do it, and what your brand is about. You want to get your message out. Tell the world about your products and what differentiates them from the competitors.

Step 16. Sales.

It doesn't matter if you have the best products in the world with the best story, if no-one buys them. In the end it all comes down to sales. You want your garments to sell, so you can reinvest and develop your collection and keep doing what you love. If you work with retailers, the traditional way is to show at trade fair and to take your collection in garment bags and visit the shops. This way you end up having multiple mini presentations and demonstrations of your awesome collection. Not all buyer are open to new things, so don't get discouraged when it gets tough. Believe in your brand and keep going.

Step 17. Order.

The manufacturer usually has minimum quantity requirements for producing your garment. This should at least be your selling target. Sell, sell, sell, and collect your orders to meet those minimums. At the same time, keep track of your minimum requirements for materials. How much fabrics are on each roll that you buy? You don't want to buy too much fabric that in the end turns into left over. A good recommendation is to only produce the garments you have orders on. Don't stock up, unless you have an online business, and therefor need your own stock.

Step 18. Customer Service.

Take care of your customers. You make your garments so that your customers can have them for their intended need. Don't disappoint them, put yourself in their shoes and just see how you can help them. How will you handle complaints, returns, delays? Talk to your customers, put your ego aside, and use the information to make even better products in the future.

Become Your Own Boss - Avoid These Common Piitfalls

Entrepreneurs all over the world always run into the marketplace with hopes and dreams of success. However most of them fall flat on their face because they run into common pitfalls. I am happy to share with you today some common pitfalls to avoid if you want to achieve success in the business world. Unfortunately, there are 470,000 businesses that close every year and there are 400,000 that open every year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. As you can see, more businesses are being closed down as opposed to the amount starting up. To be fair, not all business exits are bad, sometimes the owner retires or gets another job.
#1 Empty Pockets
I believe the number one reason why businesses fail is because the owner does not put enough money into the start-up.
#2 Overconfidence
More times than not, sometimes owner get to full of themselves and start ignoring critics. I am not here to say that sometimes they can be right. As a business owner, you will have to humble yourself sometimes and absorb constructive criticism from your critics.
#3 Poor Price Point
The customer is not always right. Although the consumer controls the market, sometimes what they are willing to pay for the product or service does not sync with reality. You will have to test different price points to get a certain overview on what price your market is willing to pay.
#4 communication issues
As an owner, you will have to make sure that you hold communication as a priority in your brand. You must make sure that your employees and clients remain comfortable with talking to you about any issue.
#5 A stale market
Huge employers know that it is crucial to refresh their brand every 12-15 years. The reason for this, in my opinion, is because sometimes people can get bored of what you have to offer. When the market feels like they know everything about you,in my opinion, they lose interest. You must constantly find ways to re-brand and restructure your business to always keep your market on their feet.
If you want to see success in anything in life you must educate yourself on the industry you want to be affiliated with. It will not be easy but if you avoid these tips that I have shared with you, you will absolutely see success. Luckily for you, you can leverage the internet to help you determine the best opportunities to get into.

Bringing An App To Market

The App market has always been popular especially as a marketing tool for businesses but for many it has seemed out of reach, even if you have a fantastic idea for an App, many people have no idea where to start, who will build the app and even if they can afford to pay for an App to be built.
There are different categories of Apps and these include Games, Social networking, lifestyle which may include dating and travel, productivity, News, Entertainment and the utilities Apps which may contain notepads, calculators, anything that may make a function easier. It isn't so much about coming up with a new idea but making an old one better.
The kids App market is hugely popular and there is a massive scope for both Game Apps and educational Apps with developers combining the two and creating educational Games. The other markets that are proving popular are videos, it is estimated that we watch videos for an estimated time of 16 minutes every month.
It isn't cheap to have an App built although it is certainly easier than it once was and there are many new developing companies emerging that can help you through the process. Many businesses can justify the cost because it replaces many marketing and advertising strategies the company already has and it adds to the communication between the Business and the customer. There are very few businesses now that haven't got their own App or are seriously thinking of investing in the process. Many companies also have an in house developer who can help with the process hence cutting the costs quite considerably.
If you have a great idea for an App one of the first things you will consider is the cost but don't let that get in the way of you seriously thinking about it. If you want to start your own App business and have thought for some time about bringing an app to the Market there are many resources out there that can give you a rough idea of what the App will cost. There are also some really good sites that will allow you to build your app without coding which is a relatively new concept. Whatever you choose to do, developing your App idea can be a possibility if you want it to be, with a little hard work and lots of research, you could bring your own app to market with great success.

HOW TO DOUBLE YOUR Productivity And Double Your INCOME

Would you like to double your income and work a lot less? Of course you would. The only question is, "How can you do it?"
You can dramatically improve the overall quality of your life far faster than you might think possible. All you need is the desire to change, the decision to take action, the discipline to practice the behaviours and habits that will help you and the determination to persist until you get the results you most desire and deserve.
Target Market
Let me tell you a brief story about one of my coaching clients. He is a corporate sales executive. Before he became my client, he had been working six to seven days per week, ten to twelve hours per day, and had not taken a vacation in more than four years.
He was earning a six figure income per year, but was unfit, overweight, highly stressed, and not at all satisfied with his life. He felt constantly overwhelmed, with too much to do and too little time.
He was hoping that, at a minimum, during my coaching session with him, I would tell him or give him some time management techniques that he could use to increase his productivity and get his life under control.
From the first day of our coaching session, I helped him to establish a clear sense of direction of where he was heading with his career and life. We analysed each part of his work and personal life.
I coached him to identify the areas where he was getting the best results and earning the most money.
At the same time, we identified the areas that consumed an enormous amount of time but contributed very little to his real goals.
We worked together to make a list of all he was doing. He then realized that there were an enormous number of activities he was caught up in and the responsibilities that he had taken over the years that were contributing very little to his life and his real goals.
I then coached him to set new goals for his work, his family, his health, his finances, and his life in general. He compared everything he was doing with his goals and decided to do more of some things, and less of other things and started doing certain things and stopped doing other activities altogether.
Over a period of three months, I coached and helped him to stand back, analyse his life, and make some specific decisions.
The result was that within three months, he had cut his work from seven days to five days. He had refocused his efforts to the top 20 percent of his clients and organised his activities to acquire more clients.
At that same time, he began reducing and cutting back on the amount of time he was spending with the 80 percent of his clients who contributed only 20 percent of his income. This enabled him to spend more of his time with the clients who provided most of his income.
With his work life simplified, he refocus on his family. Because of his increased focus on his most valuable clients, within a period of time his income increased by 30 percent.
To work a lot less and still double your income, here are my proposal for you:
First, identify the things you do that contribute the greatest values to you and your company or business.
Second, identify the activities of lower value, time consuming tasks and contribute very little to your results, and resolve to either downsize, delegate, or eliminate as many of them as possible, as quickly as you possibly can.
Third, discipline yourself to practice this simple approach and see your results and rewards increase.
By persistent in this way of working, you will become more and more productive. You will accomplish more and more. Your productivity, your performance, your output, and eventually you pay will increase and eventually double.

Why Every Entrepreneur Needs to Take Entrepreneur Mentorship Programs

As a young entrepreneur, it is easy to fall into the trap of "I'm on the top of the world" or "I know everything about business" after getting first few tastes of success. However, you may feel stuck at times and may feel the need to reach out and connect with people for help.
Perhaps you need a "Mentor". But where do you find a mentor and how do you reach the right one who will help you take best business decisions. The answer is "Entrepreneur mentorship programs". Let's try to know more about these programs.
What Is Entrepreneur Mentoring Program?
The Entrepreneur Mentoring Programs are specifically designed for commercial and social entrepreneurs. The program provides you with trained mentors and facilitates the building of a long-term mutually beneficial trust-based relationships.
Besides offering one-to-one mentoring, the program also helps startups by providing a process to evaluate a business opportunity within the context of a Business model canvas. Entrepreneurship is a lonely journey and entrepreneurs often feel alone and look for support that can give guidance and provide an answer to the questions. The biggest benefit of such program is you get a mentor who provides you critical business insights.
Why Are Mentors Important?
For an entrepreneur, a mentor is like a compass, lighthouse, and drinking water while you are at sea. While there is no doubt about the importance of the technical know-how and the guidance the mentor provides; the most important role a mentor plays is to keep you charged especially when things are not happening as you have planned or expected.
A mentor not only guides you towards the right path but also acts as a source of inspiration and motivation. Here are some reasons why every entrepreneur needs a mentor.
Gain from Experience That Is Not Available in Books
There is a proverb "Experience is the best teacher" and it is a crucial element of success in business. You can gain so much from the experience of your mentor who has been there, seen it and done it all.
The knowledge you gain from mentor might not be available in books. It is an unstated truth that most authors are not comfortable sharing/revealing in their books. Some personal experiences of business leaders can be helpful while dealing with ups and down in business.
Mentorship allows you to connect with the person at a more intimate level where you can also gain knowledge from your mentor's personal experiences.
More Networking Opportunities
A successful mentor will have a wider network which you can also access. Since your mentor wants you to be successful, it only makes sense for the mentor to allow you to tap his/her network when the need arises. You will not have this opportunity without a mentor.
Provide Much Needed Encouragement
Failure can impact your productivity and morale. With mentor by your side, you will be in better position to deal with failures. The mentor has already experienced highs and lows in business and would provide you the much-needed encouragement to look beyond failures.
The importance of guidance and support of a mentor cannot be ignored. Entrepreneur mentoring programs offers you easy access to set of accomplished entrepreneurs as mentors who will take you towards the winning path.

How the Economy Will Impact Your Medical Staffing Business

You don't require any special knowledge, neither is it rocket science to know that you can't succeed in any business venture when the economic tides are against you, just the way it is today.
Most fortune 500 companies usually have economic guidance. As for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), they usually require the services of an economic analyst or a financial expert to aid in business growth.
Invariably, it doesn't mean a booming economy is a sure guarantee for business success and vice versa. It requires foresight and a visionary leader to ride the storm and stand tall.
In this article, I would highlight three important points you need to know about the economy today, they are;
1. We are currently in unknown territory and the usual boom - burst cycle is over. The economy is experiencing a slow growth process, and the probability of witnessing another shock is quite high, this is due to the fact that government no longer functions as optimally as it used to.
The examples are all around for us to see, from the Economic Cliff, to the Sequester, and the defaulting on National debt, these have created uncertainty that doesn't favor making business decisions. My advice would be for one to develop alternative methods to deal with opportunities or potential pit falls that may affect one's business immediately.
2. In order to gain a sizeable chunk of the market and also retain your clientele, you need to stay on top of your game. The competition is also feeling the pressure in the same way you are. So it's safe to assume they are thinking of ways to do things differently so as not to be left behind. In other for you not to be stagnant, you need to implement some of the following economic methods.
- Research markets that are immune to recession and go into business with those you think will survive.
- Provide services at price that would provide optimal value for clients.
- Develop special relationships so as to be a household name, and provide quality services to regular discounts.
- Venture into rising businesses. This way the only way you move is forward.
- Create value. This changes the perception from a cost driven business to profit driven.
- Make yourself irreplaceable to your clientele.
3. There are business environments that react in an unconventional way to economic change. These business models find ways to limit risk while demand premium fees for their services thereby making huge profits in return.
An example could be found in a company operating in a small market where the competition was leaving faster than the market was tumbling, they gained market share, raised prices and made a fortune. Another opportunity was found in a market no one ventured in because of a high risk of failure.
Any venture has risks and the medical staffing industry is no different. But, lowering the risks and understanding the industry and the economy certainly help in the success of your business. Having the right tools and the right guidance in today's economy is critical to your success.

Up-Leveling Your Success - Is a Coach or Mentor Best?

If you look at top business achievers, you will find one common denominator: They didn't do it all alone.
High performing entrepreneurs and business owners know that to truly excel requires guidance and support.
Are you wanting to be a high-performer?
If so, you might be wondering what kind of guidance do you need exactly?
Do you need a mentor or coach?
How can these kinds of advisors best serve in your professional development?
Working With a Mentor
First let's look at the role of a mentor. A mentor is a more experienced individual who offers guidance, friendship, and support based on their past experiences, knowledge and expertise.
Usually there is a level of personal connection as the mentor serves as a role model to help an individual reach their potential.
Working with a Coach
A coach on the other hand serves more as an expert guiding you in a very specific area of performance. If you Google "coach" you'll see coaches for performance, marketing, financial support, sales, business growth, social media support and more.
What's unsettling is that many coaches are self-appointed experts.
While they may present themselves as knowledgeable and highly successful, many could be just one step ahead of you. While they may "talk the talk", you truly don't know if they have the experience or skills to help you succeed.
Advantages of Working with a Mentor
  • Outside Perspective - Often we are too close and emotionally tied to our business to see what's really going on. There's a great benefit to someone else taking a bird's-eye view to get a clearer picture of your situation. Sometimes we are too in love with our work to be truthful about areas that need a little work. Your mentor can probe to uncover problem issues that may not be apparent to you.

  • Help You Reach Higher - Sometimes we will do things for other people that we wouldn't do for ourselves. Having the accountability of a mentor can help you push harder to reach your goals. Knowing you have to report your results to your mentor can make you go the extra mile to get things done.

  • Business Experience - Even if you have years of corporate experience, running your own business can be a real challenge. While you probably know a lot about your particular industry, you may not know enough about running and growing a business. Having someone with experience in creating systems, delegating, marketing, and successfully growing a business is invaluable. Not only can it help you avoid costly mistakes, but it can help you grow farther, faster. Often mentors have proven templates and blueprints to boost your results in a number of areas.

  • Cheerleader - Being a business owner can be a real roller coaster ride. There are days you are on top of the world. But there are also days you doubt yourself. You wonder if you should throw in the towel. Everything seems to be going wrong. You don't know what to do. It is in those times that a mentor can dust you off and get you back on your feet again. Staying positive and motivated is key to keeping your business moving forward daily.
5 Common Blind-spots That Crush Our Success
As a mentor, I have worked with dozens of small business owners over the years. When entrepreneurs come to me for help, there are some common areas I see them struggling with.
Here are the most common "stories" we tell ourselves about our business that keep us stuck:
  1. Being In Squirrel Mode. When you spread yourself too thin, it's hard to fully monetize your business. One big mistake I see people make is when one thing isn't working, they see the next "shiny object" and try something new. The result is they never fully put in the work it takes to make a new objective take off. Having a mentor can help you find the focus you need to experience growth. They can help you create a plan to use your money, resources, and time in ways that laser focus your results.

  2. Not Admitting When Wrong. Being your own boss is awesome. You get to call all the shots and be captain of your own ship. But the problem is that you always get to be "right" - even when you aren't. There can be great value to having a mentor to reframe your situation and show you areas that need improvement that you may be overlooking. Having someone speak the truth to you when it's needed is critical to growth.

  3. Getting Stuck in Victim Mode. It can actually be cathartic to gripe and moan about how busy you are, or how out of control things have gotten, etc. but some people find a certain kind of honour in projecting themselves as a martyr that way. But people who succeed know the value is healing those wounded areas. A mentor can hold your feet to the fire and help you move through the bleeding wounds and address the bigger issues.

  4. Not Looking in The Mirror. It's your team's fault. Your software isn't working right. The market has changed... The excuses can go on forever. Until you realize that you are 100% responsible for everything that happens in your life and business, nothing changes. A mentor will be honest with you about the role you played in failures. They can help you learn the lesson, grow, and move on. Personal growth is key to your success.

  5. Trying to Do it All Themselves. Women are especially hard on themselves when it comes to thinking they should know everything they need to know to run a business. It's a sign of weakness ineptitude if they don't, so they set off to learn everything all themselves. The problem is, the more they set off to learn someone else's skillset and expertise, the less they are focusing on their own core competency and thus, not on their own business. A mentor can help you determine what you should be doing yourself to grow and expand your business, and what you should be outsourcing and delegating. This allows you to take advantage of someone else's skillset so you can spend more time focusing on your own.
Work Smarter, Not Harder - Mentoring Can Help
I'd love to provide you with the empowered support you need to grow your business. As your mentor, we'll look at what's working, what's not, and create a plan to move you forward.

4 Simple Business Methods for New Online Entrepreneurs

So, you want to be a successful entrepreneur. But which business strategy should you choose? There seem to be so many out there, with each so-called guru touting a different philosophy, that it can be very difficult to narrow down a business strategy that actually works.
However, when you remove all of the window dressing and break the strategies down to the basics, there are only three that make up nearly all of the entrepreneurial ventures that are out there. Which one you choose will depend on your personal preference, your unique skills and where you see a hole in the market.
#1 Service Providers
The first of our three top strategies is providing some type of service. There are many occupations that provide a service where someone can become an entrepreneur.
Graphic design is one good example; freelance writing is another. Whenever you are doing a service for somebody else and they are paying you for it (while not in the employee of another person or company) you are an entrepreneur.
#2 Affiliate Marketing
Another big boom in online entrepreneurship is affiliate marketing. With the creation of websites like ClickBank, the affiliate programs offered by leading retailers like Amazon and the big profits that could be potentially earned, affiliate marketing is one of the most popular entrepreneurial ventures today.
With affiliate marketing, you find the customers, send them over to the seller to buy the product and the seller pays you a commission. Of course, you have to find the right product and a solid strategic plan because getting your offers in front of people can be difficult nowadays.
#3 Info Product Creation
Rather than being the person that receives the commission when someone buys a product from someone else, you could be the person that they are buying that product from. You could create an info product of some kind that you'll be able to sell to the Internet at large. One of the more popular ways to do this is by publishing Kindle content on Amazon, but the products on ClickBank can also be part of this strategy.
#4 Combining Strategies
Of course, you don't have to just stick with one. You can always combine any two or all three if you like. There are no rules when it comes to entrepreneurship. If you can create something that sells, or add value to someone else's life in exchange of money, you are an entrepreneur.

5 Ways To Be The Best Online Service Provider

If your online business venture is more focused on providing services, you definitely want to provide the best service possible and be the number one person that people go to when they need your particular service.
There are lots of service providers on the Internet these days, things like freelance writing and editing, grammar proofreading, voiceover services, graphic design, animation videos, programming, website creation, link building or any other service.
There are professionals with huge price tags and sites like Fiverr that make some services incredibly cheap but no matter which part of the spectrum you're at right now, there are a few ways to be the best service writer possible.
1. Don't charge prices based on the market, especially if you're trying to undercut the competition.
Price your services based on what you think they're worth and don't worry if some people are willing to pay the price because you'll find people looking for quality work like yours that are willing to pay good money for it.
2. Be consistent with all of your clients even if they don't know each other.
Charge the same basic prices to all of the clients that you have, promise the same deadlines and don't pick and choose policies based upon the client. If they ever do encounter each other, you may lose both of them.
3. Double and triple check your work before you send it out.
Even catching one or two minor mistakes could mean the difference between a client coming back or not, or telling other people about your services. Take a few extra minutes with every single project and make sure it is 100% what the client wanted and that it is your absolute best work.
4. Be okay with saying no.
There may be some projects that you don't want to work on and it doesn't really matter what the reason is. You could have a moral objection or could be just too much work for the price that the person is willing to pay.
The point is that you should be willing to say no to clients. They will respect you and not ask for unreasonable expectations in the future.
5. Figure out what people's problems are and then try to solve them.
If you can come up with solutions to people's problems other than your regular services, you could make a great deal more money and could spark a business idea that will take you to the big-time.

Entrepreneurship Misconceptions

Don't let what others think about entrepreneurs hold you back from greatness,
Misconception is a thought or opinion that is incorrect based on the faulty thinking or understanding of people. Here, we want to clarify some of the misconceptions in entrepreneurship.
They work for money
Entrepreneurship isn't all about money, it's about solving problems for people and love what they do. Also, it's about creating a name for themselves and making a positive impact in the world.
Money is also a way to do bigger and more exciting deals. The motivation of a new idea, and the risks involved have far more power to motivate the entrepreneurial spirit than money. In entrepreneurship, your business and success become an obsession not the money.
They lack courage
I've never seen anyone that is as courageous as an entrepreneur.
It takes courage to forego the predictability of a corporate job, It takes courage to take the risk of failure, It takes courage to make your dreams into reality.
And it takes courage, lots of it to hand over the reins when your startup grows beyond your ability to manage it.
That's why entrepreneurs are rightly the true heroes of our modern world.
They are professionals
Most successful entrepreneurs are not highly qualified fellows, but are success driven. Surprisingly, attending an elite university or higher education doesn't provide a significant advantage in entrepreneurship. What matters is that the entrepreneur gains a degree; the choice of major or college doesn't play a big role in success. However, the greater the education of the entrepreneur, the lower the rate of business failure and the higher the business's profits, sales and employment.
They sometimes have overnight success
It may seem to you that entrepreneurs made the huge amount of money, but do you know that there is a lot of handwork before he made it.
Overnight success is possible; entrepreneurs are inspired to start their own business by witnessing successful and established entrepreneurs. They study the success stories, the beginning of those success stories, which often includes massive struggle prior to the breakthroughs. As a matter of Fact, it takes years to become an overnight success in entrepreneurship!
Many entrepreneurs needlessly worry that they haven't perfected their ideas. No idea is ever perfect. When you have an idea, go ahead and build a prototype or two, tinker with what works, make refinements as necessary, but by all means get it out there! You can always improve on a good idea. Let the market help you improve.
You don't have to be a Harvard graduate to be an entrepreneur, but you do need to understand the characteristics of entrepreneurial. See you at the top!

8 Taxes Taboos You Should Break Today for Your Business' Sake

8 taxes taboos you should break today for your business' sake!
For small businesses, improper management of your taxes can mean the death of your business. Depending on your type of business, your tax liabilities will vary. This is why we decide to come up with a treatise discussing the different taxes taboos (fears) and possible ways to overcome them.
  1. Facing the tax examiner
Everyone dreads facing the tax examiner. In most cases, audit fears are usually greater than audit realities. Especially for small businesses and startups that are not used to tax auditing. The remedy, however, is that you should keep good records. Individuals who work themselves do tend to get scrutinized more, so ensure business record keeping is accurate.

  2. Hesitation to incorporate
Many small businesses hesitate to register their business as a corporation, thinking it will increase the payable tax. However, but if you ever want to raise money, registering as a corporation is mandatory. Failing to keep your business up-to-date by incorporating it will end up costing you more money. Informed decisions about incorporation can help you save thousands of dollars in fees and taxes

  3. Deciphering the Tax Code
The National Taxpayer Advocate in one of its annual assessments revealed that deciphering tax code is one of the most serious fears of the taxpayers. No wonder the average taxpayer get overwhelmed and confused easily because of the sheer number of codes and sections involved. However, this shouldn't weigh you down. As a small business owner, rely on tax software and professionals to get it done.

  4. Spending of Sales Tax
Spending of sales tax is another fear of entrepreneurs and a common problem of small businesses. Often, the sales tax collected in the receipts is deposited along with the business income and considered available cash by the owners. As soon as the due date comes around, the sales tax amount becomes higher than presumed and creates a serious cash-flow problem because there is not enough money to cover the sales tax and a few period later, the business is on the verge of self-destruction. However, you need not fear this; this problem can be tackled by opening a separate bank account to hold sales tax receipts

  5. Paying Employment Taxes
Employment tax deductions are another common pitfall for startups and small business owners. It is important that you completely understand your responsibility as an employer before hiring your first employee because tax deductions for employees are shared between the employee and employer. Before you hire staffs, learn all about tax-related responsibilities as an employer and set up your accounting software with the correct numbers.

  6. Filing Income Taxes
If your small business is registered as a corporation, you will need to file an annual income tax return. Normally, you will be expected to submit quarterly estimated tax payments to the authorities so they can hold your deposits until tax payment time. Failure to submit the correct quarterly amounts on time can result in significant penalties when payment time comes, so it is important to stay on top of these due dates as well.

  7. Hiring tax accountants
Hiring a competent accountant will undoubtedly streamline the tax process and help you devise tax strategies. While staying in-house cuts costs and help to keep you on a budget, outsourcing allows you to focus your attention on other things related to your business. Including this in your business plan beforehand will save you a lot of headaches, prevent taxes from being an issue, and will help increase your venture's chances of success.

  8. Lack of Understanding basic tax laws
Understanding the basic tax laws will help you stand for yourself in situations of (illegal) high tax deduction. Taking your time to study this will really go a long way to help you in case you fall a victim of such.

Five Things No One Tells You About Entrepreneurship

The internet has made the idea of starting a business more accessible than ever before. And that is just what people are doing. However, the journey of entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. Having a marketable product is not enough. Being talented enough to market your services for hire does not mean you know how to run a business. After all, 90% of all start-ups fail within the first 5 years.
Here are some things to keep in mind when you start your business:
1. Entrepreneurship is lonely
If you are like most entrepreneurs, you don't have a lot of capital to hire a permanent staff in the beginning. That means, it will be you and your laptop for a while. No one to help you come up with ideas. No one to reassure that everything is alright when you have a bad day. No one to help you generate ideas. It's just you. Depressing. After all, we're human. We aren't designed to work alone. To counter the bad effects of loneliness, join entrepreneur groups, have some entrepreneurs in your close contacts that you can reach out to when you need a voice of affirmation and encouragement.
2. You don't know what you don't know
I am a scientist. I know how to make the product. Initially, I did not know anything about marketing and advertising. I had to learn. There are plenty of resources on the internet and in libraries to help you along the way. Establishing a relationship with a business mentor will help point you in the right direction on where to get started. It's important have some idea of what you need before you start spending money with paid services to do things for you. How else will you know if you're going to get what you paid for?
3. Your mindset determines your paycheck.
The owner's mindset makes and/or breaks the business. Devoting time, energy and money to your personal development is just as important as devoting those things to process improvement and building a team. Spend time meditating, reading and visit a therapist regularly. Your business depends on it.
4. You will have to hire a team.
Yes, sometimes you will be able to get the task done best BUT you will get more done with help. You are not good at everything. Assemble a team of experts and all you will have to worry about is maintaining your own ability. Your business will grow faster. Two brains are better than one.
5. Your journey is your journey. Patience is a virtue.
In the age of social media, it is easy to start comparing someone else's progress to your own. Do not beat yourself up. You journey is your journey. Do not rush it. Do not compare it to someone else's, especially based on social media posts. Those posts are a snapshot of the highlight reel. You really don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
Yes. Entrepreneurship is hard and not for the faint at heart but when done correctly the rewards outweigh the risks. Connect with other entrepreneurs so you feel part of a community. Build a relationship with a business mentor. Learn skills you don't already have. Your daily routine should include improving your mindset. Hire a team. And, most of all, be patient. Your time will come.

It not only helps you to sustain your current growth but also excel your business planning's to achieve higher objectives. There are a few suggestions based on real-world experiences, which can assist you to hit the bull's eye.
1- Utilize the power of social media:
Nowadays, the entire world revolves around social media and if you are able to use its full potential, it can immediately help you increase your sales and brand reputation with very minimum resource and effort. Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, help you connect with a large scale of users, where you can directly interact with them, thereby allowing you to convert them into your potential clients. It forms a two-way channel that not only allows you to put your message across but also, listen to what your targeted audience want, which eventually goes a long way in improving and growing your business.
2- Research and analyze your competition:
A business turns to be successful only if it runs on some finely grinned facts and figures. And competition analysis is one of the most important elements of the process. Competition analysis tells you the strength you will require to establish your brand in the market as well as it helps to prepare your business planning adequately so that you could avoid the chances of business failure. An additional benefit of competition research is it allows for designing and developing more feasible and user-oriented products that eventually help you attain a competitive edge over the current market.

Efficient planning is a roadmap that drives your business to the top in the long run with predefined routes. And day-to-day challenges should not incline you to alter with whatever you planned. The winners always back their business plannings regardless of the stiff challenges, but on the other side, a successful business requires the owner to be flexible enough to embrace new changes. Adapting the new ideas and concepts not only makes a business owner take smart decisions but also, keeps their core planning intact and fresh.

There are definitely some better ways to do it like using informative online materials such as well-written blogs, well-designed infographics, animated videos demonstrating some set of skills, and presentation sheets, etc. Following such practices will attract a huge mass to our platform to learn and engage with us, which gives a sense of trust and ultimately convert them into our long-term clients.
5- Hire your weaknesses:
A small business consists of a team of limited dedicated professionals, having different skill sets of all the corners to tackle most of the business requirements. Small businesses, sometimes, compromise in some crucial areas since they can't hire specific individuals due to the lack of budget. To get your business positioned to the top, please don't bear with your inefficient area. Rush into hiring experienced professional(s) so that all parts of your business fire with the same intensity.
6- Be ready for mergers and acquisitions:
Even after working with your full potential, you may not generate enough force to compete with the leading competitors. Other small businesses with the same concept may face the same situations. Just find them and join in the talks to check the possibilities of the merger to form a combined force, which can provide the required pace and power to achieve the common business goals. Mergers have a long, rich history of producing successful businesses, so don't shy away with it. Similarly, business acquisitions are a noble idea to inject more strength to our business if budget allows us to do so.
7- Keep the quality service always on:
Quality service is the most important source that keeps your client for a longer period of time and it spreads huge positive feedbacks in the mass, driving in a large number of new clients. There have been more than just a few businesses reaching to the top just on the base of excellent service and even without spending a bomb on advertisements and business promotions. While there are other businesses which have failed miserably because of giving no importance to the quality of the services they provided. All in all, having the sound quality of the products/services is the key to succeeding in today's cut throat competition.
8- Don't give up:
Running a successful business is not a child's play since it requires a lot of guts, courage, and risk-taking capabilities. It, sometimes, shakes your ambitions when going through some rough patches, and you need to have the burning desires within you to keep it alive. Keeping patience is also an important character that the small business owner must have, as the formation of a business and climb the ladder of success, demands to wait for long period of time. So, as a business owner, you need to instill never give up attitude to see your dreams come true!!
Summing it up, though the above-mentioned points are not entirely foolproof but yes, following these points will definitely help you to become a smart small business owner who can defy all the challenges and get on the top of the competition. Of Course, the chances of success or failure of your business completely depends on your planning and execution.

What You're Doing Wrong As An Entrepreneur Or In Your Small Business

Business owners and entrepreneurs are not always good at asking for help. Be honest, when did you last reach out to someone? Perhaps this is the reason why they are entrepreneurs in the first place. Business owners are self motivated and self reliant. But if you're operating a business in this way, it could be the one thing which stands in the way of progress.
Entrepreneurs are hard workers too and will work hard in areas which many people wouldn't consider. They look forward to the long term effects of their actions rather than for immediate rewards. Often business owners have built up their businesses over many years of difficulties and sacrifice.
However, thinking into the cause and effects of all this work there is one thing in common: you. As the 'owner' of a business it can be easy to become complacent. Perhaps business growth isn't what it should be? You are always the limiting factor in your life. Unless you are growing, your business isn't.
If you keep operating from the belief that you know everything, you will always keep getting the same results in your business, and in your life. Growing in awareness and developing your self along with your business is what smart entrepreneurs do.
Working Hard And Smart
It can be easy to run things 'as you've always run things'. You can get stuck in a mode of operation, especially if you're largely on your own. But working hard and working smart are not the same things. You need to get smart about working hard if you are to make any progress. Don't become a 'busy fool' doing those things which you have always done, just because it's always been that way.
Smart business owners know this, and work hard at learning what the best activities are to move their business forward. This 'trap' of working as a 'technician' in the role of an entrepreneur is easy to fall into. This is especially true if you have recently 'graduated' from a role as an employee to that of an 'owner'.
The role of an employee is to listen to your boss and do the best for them. You are paid by the hour, or for work done. An owner on the other hand isn't paid for their time. They get paid when the business makes a profit. As such this is an entirely different role. Ask yourself whether you are playing a 'technician' role in your business. Should you be doing things differently? Can someone else be employed to do what you are doing? If so the answer should seem obvious. Your role should be the 'driving engine' of the business, the overseer and the planner.
Smart Advertising
Advertising is the 'engine' of your business. If cash is the 'life blood' of your business, advertising is the heart beat. Without a successful and progressive advertising campaign, your business will at best stand still. If you're standing still while other competing businesses move forward, you're effectively moving backwards.
Today we are lucky to have the internet as a source of advertising. We can reach anyone globally and target them down to their preferences, intent and geographical location. Platforms like Google's AdWords and Facebook advertising let us 'follow' our potential customers around the internet. Should someone land on our website and not purchase, we can remind them of our business later on. The advertising available to business owners today is very clever, and we should definitely be capitalizing on it.
Pay Per Click Advertising
Pay per click advertising is one of the best things to come out of the internet for business owners. Many owners doubt the effectiveness of pay per click advertising, but this is only because they don't understand it properly, or it's potential to massively change their business.
Initially pay per click should be tested and measured. Only by testing and measuring each element of an advertising campaign can you effectively 'tweek' it and learn which elements work best for your customers. If you run a campaign but don't measure it, how can you know if it brought you any customers?
The ROI
Knowing the return on investment (ROI) of any advertising campaign is a game changer. Many owners get this wrong because they only look at the initial sale. But once you can effectively determine the long term return on investment, you will start to see why it is so important to use paid advertising.
Paid advertising is effectively buying new customers. If your business model lets you earn again and again from each customer, your long term gain from a loyal customer is far more than you might spend to attain that customer. By altering your paid for advertising to reduce your cost and increase your ROI over time, you can find yourself in the nice position of being able to scale up.
Working Against Yourself
We are predisposed to think that spending is wasteful. In terms of 'smart' advertising the opposite is true. Of course you don't start out by spending huge amounts on your pay per click campaign. You start small and only increase your budget when you see tangible results and profitable ones at that.
But the main sticking point is the contrasting viewpoint that we need to 'cut back' while at the same time wanting to expand our businesses. This is a contradiction and although this is based in safety and reasonableness, your long term goal should be to be spending more and more on advertising as your business grows.
How do you feel about that? Most likely you want to spend less and less over the course of time. However, with pay per click advertising, once you have developed your adverts to pay out double what you put in, the only reasonable decision is to increase the budget.
So initially you might tentatively spend some money on advertising, see some results and then stop your adverts. This is especially true if you don't see any tangible benefit of advertising. Most people will give up too early.
Start small with a budget you can afford to lose. Test your adverts with several different strategies, keywords, images and landing pages. By cross testing adverts you can more effectively determine which ones work the best.
Once you have done this for long enough, you will see the power of pay per click. This puts you in charge of your business. Once you have one profitable campaign set up, you can simply leave it running. Then you can move on to another one and another one. This of course takes time but this strategy puts you in the driving seat of your business and eventually will mean you can grow your business more effectively.
This is smart work. This should be the focus of your time if you intend to grow your business.
Relying on free advertising methods or 'word of mouth' advertising doesn't put you in control, however valuable those methods might be.
Being a 'technician' in your business should be the work of a manager or an employee, not the business owner. As an owner, your job is to grow your business.
