How to Gather Information for a Proposed Business

Sufficient Information is needed for business success. An organization or economic structure where goods and services are exchanged for one another or for money is referred to as business.
Most businesses requires ample form of investment and adequate customers to whom its products can be sold on a steady basis in order to regulate constant profit flow.
Businesses can be confidentially owned, not-for-profit or Government owned. A typical example of a commercial business is Goodneeed, whereas Jaykool foodies business is a private project. In order to gather information for a proposed business, the following steps must be followed according in no particular order.
1. Conduct market studies and surveys. You can do this yourself, either formally or informally to obtain feedback on your product or service, and if you have the money you can pay someone to do it for you.
2. Spy! That's perfectly right. If you want to know about prices/performance ratio at another store, outlets or the number of customers a competitor has, simply visit his visit empire/blog or store and walk around to know more about the tools your competitor is applying or using.
3. Attend trade shows, events, conference, expos and business fairs. These are excellent sources of information and personal contacts that can propel your business to a level of unconditional success.
4. Network with colleagues, friends, or associates. Everyone knows someone else who can help them with some aspects of their intended business. Use these friends, associates and their knowledge to the best of your possible advantage. some will be glad to give advice or help
5. Follow the local and National news. Keep abreast of trends and fads. Often, newspaper and online journals contain a wealth of small business information and possible ideas that can make the difference.
6. Don't be silent; silent kills.Talk to members of your local chamber of commerce or NGOs that are into employment issues. Again, they will probably be open to help you along since they were once in your situation.
7. The internet is always and readily available for access. Use the internet to open the door to business websites. The beauty of the internet is that one site often leads to another in terms of connected resources. There is virtually nothing that can't be located online. Make use of the internet and gather useful data's needed.
8. Do you know any successful entrepreneur within your community? Talk to entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses for advice, information, and even encouragement. Many small business owners will gladly tell what they went through. Their experiences matters a lot. Words of encouragement from their successes can catalyze your footsteps and guide you towards achieving success. Make friends with them and learn from their mistakes.
9. Write to companies and request information on how they started out. Most companies will help you out here. They have detailed information about their startups and how to achieve success faster.
10. Ensure to buy your competitors goods/products to compare with yours and make notes on how they advertise. Most of them have their key secrets. For you to achieve success and surpass them you need to carry out products comparison and possible ways of improvement. This can be achieved purely by effective business research.
11. Talk to competitors, friends, colleagues, your former employers, if you know any. They may give you insight into how your competitors operate. This is very important.
12. Use your own noggin and that of a business partner/investor, friend, or spouse to come up with your own unique answers and information.
13. Listen to radio and television shows and talks on business and attend business events. Never walk alone. Always enhance connection by interacting with the speakers on radios.
Final Word
According to Collin Powell," There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure". Honestly comprehend that even after gathering useful information about your proposed business, you might discover that you still need more facts or answers. If ask why? You will realize that your research will inevitably raise fresh questions that requires adequate answers. My candid advice is not to be dispirited, this is normal. Starting a business can bring lots of headache and can also be time consuming as well, so you have to be flexible for maximum success.

Faith in a Seed, Investment in the Roots: Cultivating the Garden of an Entrepreneurial Venture

Henry David Thoreau once stated, "Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders." While I appreciate this quote, I think that it perhaps puts too much emphasis on the seed (or idea) alone. While a seed is necessary, I feel that attention should turn towards the roots (processes, goals, human capital, etc.) that single seed can lead to developing.
In fact, this observation reminds me of the recent Western Carolina University Leadership Development tour of the Cradle of Forestry in Western North Carolina, where I learned of the approach to life (and development) that an oak tree will adopt. Interestingly, in its first approximately 20 - 25 years of life an oak tree will spend ~70% - 80% of its energy and resources developing a robust and pervasive root system. In this example, while the seed is the starting point, it is the root system of a future, mighty oak that serves as the real genius of its development.
I think it is important to reflect on the oak tree's approach to life. Instead of growing tall and strong first, the oak tree stays small and chooses initially to grow deep, deep into the earth. An oak tree grows with their long or end game in mind, not for the instant gratification and short-term results. This approach to life carries a lesson for all of us as human beings, but takes on a particularly relevant lesson for those of us who, as Machiavelli stated, "choose to take on a new order of things" in the form of innovation and entrepreneurship.
For example, when you think about an entrepreneurial venture, what you see standing above the surface is but a fraction of the energy and results of the effort invested in that organization or idea. For the purpose of this article, the primary components of a start-up's root system are as follows:
• Value Proposition - identifies an aspect of your product/service that makes your offering appealing to potential customers and helps sell and market that product. This serves as the cornerstone to your venture.
• Talent Development/Cultivation - a basic strategy for bringing in, developing, inspiring, and maintaining the best talent associated with your venture with the greater goal of sustainability. Additionally, talent development can help maintain consistency, trust, and more exceptional customer service or product development, while aligning with the application of your value proposition.
• Strategic/Business Plan - frames your venture in a standard way by providing objectives and methods/strategies for reaching them. This is a recognized document that potential funders can relate to and it serves as a more accurate and robust expansion of your idea/product, the value proposition, and the stakeholders involved.
Finally, as an entrepreneur, the most valuable lesson to take away from the mighty oak is to remember to stay true to your roots. By doing this, you will invest your time, energy, expertise, and resources into your roots. If you nurture your roots, they can support you as you continue to grow to new heights and new depths!

How To Be The Right Person For Entrepreneurial Success

So, who's the right person to be an entrepreneur? Is there such a thing at all? The truth is, just about anyone can be an entrepreneur if they put in the work.
But it does take a certain character of the person to become a successful entrepreneur.
The type of person that is the most successful at this can be found all over the world doing things in life that give them the skills that they need to be an entrepreneur. With attributes like drive, determination, patience, the ability to recognize a good idea and persistence many different types of people have what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
Below are a couple of examples of the wide range of entrepreneurs.
College Students: anyone who's attended college knows that being a student can be one of the toughest periods of your life. Of course, it can also be one of the most rewarding since young adults are exploring their independence for the first time.
But with all of the hard work that they have to put in with homework, attending classes and participating in school activities, college students have what it takes to be successful entrepreneurs.
Stay-at-Home Parents: another group that is perfect for the entrepreneurial is the stay-at-home parent. One thing that these people have going for them is the ability to sneak in some work when they aren't caring for children, doing housework or running errands.
A woman taking care of an infant might be able to get two hours of work in while the baby sleeping or other stay-at-home parents can work whether kids are in school.
Seniors: senior citizens are in a perfect position to become successful entrepreneurs. If they are retired, they have a lot of time on their hands, which combines perfectly with all of their skills and experience that they've gained throughout their life.
Seniors who become entrepreneurs find not only financial benefits but also a rewarding activity to keep them busy during retirement.
In short, anyone can be an entrepreneur if they want to.
Men and women both have an equal chance of becoming a successful entrepreneur, based upon their individual skills, and even children can start early and become entrepreneurs at any age - which can be seen in the occasional lemonade stand in your own neighborhood.
No matter who you are or what your particular skills and abilities are, you have what it takes to become an entrepreneur. You just need to implement your great idea as fast as possible while willing to take on a lot of hard work.

5 Ways To Be The Best Online Service Provider

If your online business venture is more focused on providing services, you definitely want to provide the best service possible and be the number one person that people go to when they need your particular service.
There are lots of service providers on the Internet these days, things like freelance writing and editing, grammar proofreading, voiceover services, graphic design, animation videos, programming, website creation, link building or any other service.
There are professionals with huge price tags and sites like Fiverr that make some services incredibly cheap but no matter which part of the spectrum you're at right now, there are a few ways to be the best service writer possible.
1. Don't charge prices based on the market, especially if you're trying to undercut the competition.
Price your services based on what you think they're worth and don't worry if some people are willing to pay the price because you'll find people looking for quality work like yours that are willing to pay good money for it.
2. Be consistent with all of your clients even if they don't know each other.
Charge the same basic prices to all of the clients that you have, promise the same deadlines and don't pick and choose policies based upon the client. If they ever do encounter each other, you may lose both of them.
3. Double and triple check your work before you send it out.
Even catching one or two minor mistakes could mean the difference between a client coming back or not, or telling other people about your services. Take a few extra minutes with every single project and make sure it is 100% what the client wanted and that it is your absolute best work.
4. Be okay with saying no.
There may be some projects that you don't want to work on and it doesn't really matter what the reason is. You could have a moral objection or could be just too much work for the price that the person is willing to pay.
The point is that you should be willing to say no to clients. They will respect you and not ask for unreasonable expectations in the future.
5. Figure out what people's problems are and then try to solve them.
If you can come up with solutions to people's problems other than your regular services, you could make a great deal more money and could spark a business idea that will take you to the big-time.
These are the 5 simple yet powerful ways when you start your service-based online entrepreneurial endeavor. Use them and differentiate yourself to be the best go-to expert in your industry today!

Bring Your Idea Alive

Business Idea
Virtually every business has started from an idea that has been put into practice by the actions of the individual. In this day and age with globalization and the digital world that we live in that business idea needs to be researched thoroughly to ensure that it has a good chance of it being a success.
Business Research
Once the idea seems feasible then the business research should start. The first mistake to make is to rush into that business without having a clear plan in place to launch the business.
On line Research
Find out what the international trends are and research the products and services that you have in mind through the internet. There are lots of ways of doing this and the first is to research companies that are doing a similar business. Establish what services they provide, what their delivery and payment terms are. How you can fit your idea into that and ways of offering something unique to give you the edge over your competitors.
The best way to find what the trends are is to join social media sites and establish if your business idea is trending through the various sites. Social media sites that use photos, and incorporate web sites is a sure way to conduct the business idea research because not only do you see what the trends are but how the different companies present and brand themselves.
If it is an idea that will not be used on line but a service or products within the a town or community one can still use the internet to confirm if the idea is a good one by seeing what response one will get through forums, social media and even blog. Search for companies within the idea that you might have on the social media sites as most of the modern companies advertise through social media as well. What makes this an effective way is that one can see how many followers there are for a particular company in that niche.
Research from other sources
Most countries have Institutions and resources in place for new entrepreneur to do their market research such as business schools, libraries and in some cases Universities. A good place to do research is at trade shows and see what is on display and how the public are receiving all the different new ideas being launched in the market. Reading business magazines because most industries have magazines that are used for advertising purposes.
Establishing the Business Plan
Once the research has been completed then the business plan can be done. By now one will have a very good idea what the competitors are offering and how the new venture can offer it's products within that niche. Establishing the niche market is important as one does not want to waste time and finances on a market that would not respond positively to the particular idea.
The business plan at this stage will move into what is required to get the idea alive and start launching it. How much funds would be required to start the business and how quickly one would start seeing return on investment. These are important because if a startup is looking for funds the cash flow requirements are essential to operate daily.
The new venture will also need a clear plan in the business plan how the products or services will be launched. Either through advertising on the web, flyers, radio or TV. The startup will need to plan for a period of slow growth because most businesses take time and a lot of hard work to get to the stage where it is self-sustainable.
Be prepared
It is also important to be prepared for unforeseen stumbling blocks. If the startup thinks that after the research the plan is not going successful there should be contingency plans. Some people will scrap the idea completely but that is not necessarily the answer. In all businesses there needs to be changes of plan at times but as long as these risks have been thought through they can be managed and still present a successful solution.
Startups and Entrepreneur
As a startup the most daunting thing now that you have a good idea how you would like to launch it is to find the finance to put it all in place. As a startup the chances that you have enough cash to get the business operating is slim and therefore one needs to find an investor.
Investors are in this day and age easy but at the same time more difficult because of the many angel investors out there. The angel investors will probably find the startup first but if that happens be sure to do the due diligence of that particular investor. There would be nothing worse than getting your idea launched and then the investor is unable to support your project at a later stage. Do all the necessary PR and brand promotion even before you launch you idea.
To get an investor interested you not only need a sound business plan but also why the particular products or service will be successful. Make sure that you have a good pitch to sell the idea should you happen to come across someone who would like to invest in your idea.
To establish a good relationship with an investor requires good communication. Communicate with the investor straight away because they are important to your business and would be unwise to put them on hold or ignore their emails. This would create trust between you and your investor. Honesty is also very important because the investor would like to know exactly what results are being achieved and what problems the startup or entrepreneur are having. This is not necessarily a bad thing especially for startups because most investors will have experience with business and could give good advice on how to solve problems.
As a start up or entrepreneur there are opportunities out there for unique ideas and investors are available to help you get them off the ground and with good research and business plan you could have a successful business.

Why the Mindset of an Entrepreneur Is Important

Various emotions and thoughts cross your mind when engaging in the idea of owning your own business. Many entrepreneurs get a sense of excitement while also feeling overwhelmed. You then relish in the idea that you can be your own boss that writes and cashes your own checks. However, shortly after all the initial excitement has passed, you begin to wonder will my product or service work, will it sell, or will I be able to take care of myself? With so many questions that you establish a great response for, doubts and uncertainty often formulate an antithesis in the shadows of our mind. Preparing and reframing your mindset about yourself and your business will determine how you operate and make your business successful.
I once heard Bishop T. D. Jakes say in his sermon entitled "A Changed Mind," you can never change your reality without first changing your mind. This statement has stuck with me ever since. It sounds so simple, but when you think about it, it is powerful. How often have you had preconceived notions about someone or something until you interacted with it or them and all a sudden, your perception is no longer the same from before your encounter? For instance, getting on a roller-coaster is frightening (especially the Fury 325 at Carowinds) but once you get on and scream to the top of your lungs when it stops most people want to ride it again. It wasn't that the ride got less scary it's just your mindset changed. What you believe will determine how you respond. If you're constantly thinking, I cannot do this or I know "it" will fail, it is more likely that you will not be successful. It's not because you did not have a good idea, or you weren't capable, but you could not see past your doubt to see the success that could have been.
When starting a business, you must understand that there will be natural deterrents that may arise, whether it be capital, office or storage space, or even market potential if you are trying to create a demand. Nevertheless, how you view these obstacles makes all the difference. Having limited capital may require you to utilize every possible resource you may have. Do not be afraid or too prideful to ask for help. Not having enough office or storage space will make you strengthen your organization skills. Creating a demand for your product or service will cause you to be more creative than you ever been. It's all how you perceive a challenge to be. Even with the unknowns do not allow fear to cripple you, instead let it be a motivator. We have an innate ability to fight or flight in any given situation. Choose to fight! Refuse to give up because of your past mistakes. In fact, reframe those mistakes as learning opportunities and never doubt your ability to break bad habits.
I would also like to stress the importance of having confidence in yourself. Think of it this way, if you had to buy a product or service from Eeyore or Tigger (characters from Christopher Robbin's Winnie the Pooh) who would you patronize? Eeyore, the humdrum individual who was not sure of himself and found every opportunity to tell you how miserable his life was or Tigger the jovial, outgoing, charismatic who loved to laugh and have fun even when working? I would go for a Tigger every time. How you view yourself is how others will view you. Be your own motivator and surround yourself with cheerleaders. Having a good support system is very integral in the pursuit of turning your dream into a reality.
Finally, as the adage goes, birds of a feather flock together. Surround yourself with successful entrepreneurs. Glean from their past business mistakes and triumphs. Read entrepreneurial magazines and books, network by joining professional groups or clubs, and engage and talk with potential customers about the product or service you are trying to offer. Be unyielding in your pursuit of changing your mindset when it comes to yourself and your business. What you believe is how you will succeed. Believe the best, speak life into your business, and shut down the voice of your insecurities. After all of that take the leap of faith and fly.

8 Taxes Taboos You Should Break Today for Your Business' Sake

8 taxes taboos you should break today for your business' sake!
For small businesses, improper management of your taxes can mean the death of your business. Depending on your type of business, your tax liabilities will vary. This is why we decide to come up with a treatise discussing the different taxes taboos (fears) and possible ways to overcome them.
  1. Facing the tax examiner
Everyone dreads facing the tax examiner. In most cases, audit fears are usually greater than audit realities. Especially for small businesses and startups that are not used to tax auditing. The remedy, however, is that you should keep good records. Individuals who work themselves do tend to get scrutinized more, so ensure business record keeping is accurate.

  2. Hesitation to incorporate
Many small businesses hesitate to register their business as a corporation, thinking it will increase the payable tax. However, but if you ever want to raise money, registering as a corporation is mandatory. Failing to keep your business up-to-date by incorporating it will end up costing you more money. Informed decisions about incorporation can help you save thousands of dollars in fees and taxes

  3. Deciphering the Tax Code
The National Taxpayer Advocate in one of its annual assessments revealed that deciphering tax code is one of the most serious fears of the taxpayers. No wonder the average taxpayer get overwhelmed and confused easily because of the sheer number of codes and sections involved. However, this shouldn't weigh you down. As a small business owner, rely on tax software and professionals to get it done.

  4. Spending of Sales Tax
Spending of sales tax is another fear of entrepreneurs and a common problem of small businesses. Often, the sales tax collected in the receipts is deposited along with the business income and considered available cash by the owners. As soon as the due date comes around, the sales tax amount becomes higher than presumed and creates a serious cash-flow problem because there is not enough money to cover the sales tax and a few period later, the business is on the verge of self-destruction. However, you need not fear this; this problem can be tackled by opening a separate bank account to hold sales tax receipts

  5. Paying Employment Taxes
Employment tax deductions are another common pitfall for startups and small business owners. It is important that you completely understand your responsibility as an employer before hiring your first employee because tax deductions for employees are shared between the employee and employer. Before you hire staffs, learn all about tax-related responsibilities as an employer and set up your accounting software with the correct numbers.

  6. Filing Income Taxes
If your small business is registered as a corporation, you will need to file an annual income tax return. Normally, you will be expected to submit quarterly estimated tax payments to the authorities so they can hold your deposits until tax payment time. Failure to submit the correct quarterly amounts on time can result in significant penalties when payment time comes, so it is important to stay on top of these due dates as well.

  7. Hiring tax accountants
Hiring a competent accountant will undoubtedly streamline the tax process and help you devise tax strategies. While staying in-house cuts costs and help to keep you on a budget, outsourcing allows you to focus your attention on other things related to your business. Including this in your business plan beforehand will save you a lot of headaches, prevent taxes from being an issue, and will help increase your venture's chances of success.

  8. Lack of Understanding basic tax laws
Understanding the basic tax laws will help you stand for yourself in situations of (illegal) high tax deduction. Taking your time to study this will really go a long way to help you in case you fall a victim of such.

Can Your Passion Become A Business?

If you start a business with something you're passionate about, you'll enjoy working on it. The time you spend on your business will be both fulfilling and enjoyable.
However, sometimes your passions aren't good enough to guarantee success. Are there enough people that are also interested in your chosen favourite hobby, pastime or interest for you to build a successful business around it?
Knowing that you have a viable market is important before spending time and money trying to start business based on your passion. The following tips will help you to choose a niche, and will give you the best chance at success before you even begin.
Google Auto-Complete
Whenever you start typing into the Google search engine, it attempts to finish your sentence or phrase. You can use this to your advantage. Type just one word of a potential niche market into Google, but don't hit enter or click on the magnifying glass.
You'll see that Google has suggested several popular searches based on that single word or phrase you typed. These are searches that have been carried out thousands and thousands of times, so you know that there is a market out there relevant to those Google auto-complete listings.
Online Forums
If you know exactly what problems need to be solved in your potential market that would enable you to sell products into that market that people want.
To learn what problems your potential audience may have, type "XXX forums" into your favorite search engine. Fill in the "XXX" with your prospective area of interest. The results you will get are online forums where people discuss that particular topic. You would be amazed at the number of forums and Facebook groups you can find on the web for just about any topic.
This will help you to see if a particular niche has a big enough audience to start a business around your passion.
Question And Answer Websites
People go to websites like Quora, Wiki.how and Yahoo Answers to get their questions answered and their problems solved. Search on these sites for specific keywords and phrases, and you can see how much desire there is in a particular niche. You also see the exact questions people are asking, which make excellent headlines for blog posts, articles, eBooks and subject lines for emails.
The Google Keyword Planner
The Google Keyword Planner shows you how many monthly searches are performed for a particular keyword phrase. Type "Google keyword planner" into the Google search engine, and follow the link provided. Ensure that you check the selection for "exact phrase" search.
Type in keywords or phrases relevant to your potential niche. When you find a search term with 10,000 to 100,000 monthly searches, that is a good range which limits your competition, while also providing enough financial viability.
