5 Surefire Ways to Hit the Ground Running As an Embroidery Franchisee

Startup businesses rise and fall for a variety of reasons. A lack of financing or peer support are two huge reasons why those just starting out in the embroidery industry might struggle initially, but those certainly aren't the only make-or-break factors defining sustainability.
Data out of the Small Business Bureau tells us that the 28 million small businesses currently active in the United States constitute over half (54%) of the overall sales going to GDP.
That's pretty incredible, and the sooner you realize that things like embracing a growth approach, networking and digitalization can forward your growth in the embroidery sector and promotional marketing industry the better.
First Tip: Take Advantage of Existing Trade and Advertising Groups
Joining trade organizations or franchises already well connected with national advertising groups are ways that you can open the door to more customers and much better sales leads.
Franchising in the promotional products industry is about going into business for yourself, but never by yourself: trade organizations active in the embroidery and promotional products industries offer access to professionals who've already served thousands of customers in their day. Trade organizations also offer added security in the form of collective purchasing power.
Now, you might think that you'd benefit simply by a kind of osmosis and getting exposure to these kinds of professionals, and you'd be right. You'll also pick up niche expertise specific to advances in screen printing and best practices in the promotional products sector. The end result: more satisfied customers.
Second Tip: Cater to Local Customers and Remain Personable
Building a reliable, preferably also local, client base is vital to your long-term sustainability in the promotional products franchise industry. You shouldn't be surprised, however, if the lion's share of your customers turn out to be local. Why?
Because local businesses will have the chance to regularly stop by, check out your offerings, speak with you face-to-face and discuss branding options for their business. This kind of convenience also allows businesses to "try before they buy" and check out branded apparel prior to the sale.
Third Tip: Define Your Target Customers and Create Buyer Personas
Having said that, you also want to define your target customers and create buyer personas. This is going to allow you to intuitively understand regional industries and cater to the needs of local professionals; in other words, you're prepared for local business before it walks into your shop.
Doing your homework beforehand, setting realistic price structures and proactively educating your customers (e.g., by posting your design and delivery processes along with your product offerings online) can save you time, money and expense later as well.
Fourth Tip: Expand Your Product Offerings and Remain Flexible
Offset lithography (screen printing) is a time-tested way of transferring a company's branding image onto a printing surface using the basic principles of oil and water repulsion.
There's a reason that this process has stuck around for so many generations: Even compared to digital, screen printing produces the highest quality images on a huge variety of surfaces (e.g., cloth, paper, wood, and plastic).
On top of that, you can pass on the cost benefits to your clients in that screen printing features lower unit costs as you go about making more branded prints for customers. Flexibility plus cost savings.
Fifth Tip: Fully Embrace Digitalization from the Word "Go!"
You can actually still bolster your output, sales and print quality by going with computer-to-plate screen printing, though, and offering your customers more online options for getting the exact branding image and printing medium that they're looking for.
Crucially, digitalization also allows greater collaboration between you and your customers.
Advertising groups might also leave you better equipped to cost-efficiently attracting repeat business. You definitely won't be reinventing the wheel every time out if you can draw on years of proven expertise in attracting and retaining local professionals eager to re/brand their business.

He or she is a person who takes risks and profits off of taking them. Entrepreneurs play a major role in a market-based economy. They are people who possess the skills and are willing to gamble and invest some of their own ideas which can lead to profitable opportunity in the business world.
Entrepreneurs are risk takers who create, construct and manage a business and are good at observing and perceiving a good investment that will bring considerable winnings to the business. But like any good business, there needs to be an individual who is willing to invest to gain profits. There are instances where these individuals become arrogant and are not willing to consider advice given by people who, "have been there and done that."
To become a successful entrepreneur in the business market there needs to be a purpose, a plan and a goal. An entrepreneur usually creates a business plan which contains documents that outline the operational and financial objectives that will be taken to achieve future goals. Having a real plan will do a great service for the business. The plan will act as a guide or a course of actions to take on and plans or methods that will be taken to achieve the objective. It's the provision of the business.
Just like any individual who is looking to start a business, you need to find people who think like you. You need to find the right business partners who share the same beliefs and goals you have. You will need to look for business partners with different skill sets to bring growth to the business. But before you break into the market there needs to be a brand and logo to identify your product or service to assist in bringing the business profits to achieve the desired goal.
Want to be an entrepreneur?
The next step you need to do is get educated. You need to do some real research. You must ask yourself these questions; Do you think you would be interested in a home business? What products or services would you enjoy selling? Who can be the best help to assist you in reaching the goals of your company?
Luckily for you, there are experts who can assist you in finding the answers to those questions.

How To Start A Low Cost Business

To started a low cost business in the traditional world of bricks and mortar is very challenging. You need to make significant investments in recruiting, stock, apparatus and property to trade from. However, an online business is different. All you need is one person, one computer, limited capital and access to the internet.
You will need to spend some money purchasing a website domain name and hosting for your website. You can build your own website (it's not as complicated as you might think) or you can employ a freelancer to build it for you. But these are minimal costs as compared to the substantial costs of renting a physical building to operate from, buying stock or employing staff.
So what options do you have to start a low cost business online?
1. Sell Other People's Products
This online business model, known as affiliate marketing, is like being a commission paid sales person. You don't have to buy any stock, deal with any payment programs or arrange any deliveries. The product owner takes care of that. Your job is to find the customers and get them to visit the product sales page. You can sell tangible products that get shipped to the customer's front door or you can sell digital products which the customer downloads to their computer.
2. Freelance Your Services Online
If you have a specific level of knowledge or expertise there will be people looking online for them. Freelance websites like UpWork have countless numbers of customers looking for copy writers, creative designers, linguists, website developers, marketing and advertising staff, legal and financial specialists and more.
3. Create A Digital Product
The greatest advantage when you a create digital product is that once you have produced it, you can sell it online again and again. And you don't need to be an expert in a particular subject to create a digital product like an eBook, video tutorial, white paper, or report. You just need to know more than the average person on your chosen subject.
4. Build A Membership Website
A membership site is like being like a consultant in the traditional offline world. You help and advise clients with your knowledge about your specialist subject. Every month you provide new content for your paying subscribers. You can produce content in advance that drip feeds to your clients when they sign up.
5. Become An Online Teacher
If you have particular know-how about a certain subject, you can pass on your knowledge to students from all over the world. People may not have a teacher near to where they live and don't want to travel for long distances for their learning. But, the internet makes it easy for you and your students to use online video and audio connections. You can set up one-to-one classes or group classes.
When you start a low cost business online it can be both exciting and daunting. You may worry that you'll get caught up with technical issues or you might feel that you're too old, too young or too inexperienced for the online business world. How Do I Patent My Mobile App Idea?

So, you have come up with a great mobile app idea and you want to protect your idea with a patent. What do you need to know? First, you need to know that applying for a patent is a very detailed, often tedious process. However, you can make it easier by knowing some key things about the patenting process. When entrepreneurs ask me how to patent a mobile app idea, this is what I tell them:
1. Do a Patent Search or App Idea Search.
This is the very first thing you should do. Often, a simple Google search will tell you if a similar app already exists. If you can find an app with features and functions like yours in the App Store, then your chances of getting a patent will be grim. You should also search the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO.gov) website to see if a patent already exists. You should search using different keywords and descriptions to make sure nothing closely similar to your idea exists. If you don't find anything similar, then you are in a good place to apply for a patent. If you find something that is somewhat close to your app idea, you may need to change your idea to make it unique. You can hire a patent lawyer to do a search for you. They don't charge too much for searching, but you can usually do as good or a better job yourself. Google, App Stores and USPTO are good sources to search when you apply for a patent, because the patent office will also search into these databases to find a match.
2. Create Design Documentation for Your App Idea
Once you find that no similar app idea exists, you will need to document your idea. Essentially, that means you need to describe the design, features and functions of your app in a document with your patent application. Your app's documentation will precisely describe what is unique about your app. You should also create wire-frames and flow charts for your application. Wire-frames can show what your app screen's may look like in terms of data, flow and features. You can also create a flow diagram to describe key flow and usage of your application. If you are not capable of doing this yourself, you can hire an app design or app development company to do it for you. You can also hire a UI/UX designer to create more advanced design documentation. This will often in PDF format.
3. File for a Provisional Patent
Once you have assembled your documentation, you should file for a provisional patent, which is easier to file (you can do it yourself right on the USPTO.gov website. You won't have to hire an expensive patent lawyer to do this. You'll just need to pay the $65 online application fee to do it. Once you send the application online, you will get a provisional, one-year patent, during which you can convert your idea into a reality.
4. Convert Provisional Patent into Non-provisional Patent
If during your one year of provisional patent coverage, you decide that your idea will success, you will want to apply for a non-provisional patent. This process may more tedious than the provisional patent process, however, you can find all the information you will need on the USPTO website. You may, at this point, want to hire a patent lawyer to file your patent application for you, especially if you have seen some success with your app in the market. If success appears likely, you may want to hire a professional to make sure your application goes smoothly.
Applying for a patent is long, detailed process, but if you follow the well-detailed steps in the process, you will be able to decrease the costs. The USPTO has made its website very simple and easy to navigate. You can even contact them if you have any questions about the process.

Business Vision Check-Up

In this highly-charged, energetic world, we're constantly evolving and changing, and our businesses change as a result. And sometimes we're working visions and plans that have become outdated.
Yet, here we are... in the midst of taking action for a plan that no longer fits. Our vision has changed.
In order to make sure your actions are in alignment with your Current Vision, you need to do a periodic Business Vision Check-up. This is a way to check in with what you want to do, what you want to be offering, and then how all that plays out in the next 6-12 months of your business planning, marketing, and promotional calendar.
First, sit quietly. This isn't a quick exercise to go through during the commercial break of your favorite show, or in between scrolling on Facebook. Get yourself ready to hear what your soul has to say. Don't worry if the answers scare you. That's okay. You don't actually have to DO anything right now.
But your soul does want you to listen.
Next, ask yourself the following Business Soul questions. Feel into the answers. Write them down.
  • What do you want to be known for? As in, "Oh, you should talk to [YOUR NAME]! She is awesome at _____________."
  • Why is that important?
  • And why is THAT important? (The idea is to keep going deeper until you come up with something that makes you go, "That's it!!!")
  • What is your greater purpose and mission?
  • If money, current obligations, contracts, what people might say or think, etc. were no object, what kind of work would you be doing?
  • If you could work with ANYONE, who would that be?
  • Why?
  • Jump ahead to five years. In your wildest dreams, what would you be doing?
You have some very interesting answers, I bet.
Now, answer these questions.
  • What can you let go of that is part of your Old Vision? Can it be tweaked, as opposed to thrown completely out the window? (And, by the way, sometimes throwing an idea or project or even a service offering out the window is absolutely what's needed.)
  • What kind of products, programs, workshops, retreats, consulting, teaching, mentoring, and other services are more in alignment with the answers from your Business Soul check-in?
  • When could you start offering or promoting those? What do you need to make it happen?
You now have the basis for your Current Vision that is in alignment with your Soul Business. This is where things can really be scary, but don't let the fear keep you down. Just note all this, and breathe. You can implement this at any time... today, tomorrow, next year.
Just make sure your vision is as clear as it can be.

Entrepreneurs - How to Find Out What Products to Sell

If you want to open a shop or set up a website and am not sure what to sell. Going door to door and asking people is a long-winded way of doing things - there are far better ways of discovering what to sell. First do some initial research:
• Go onto the big sites like Amazon, Etsy, eBay, PreLoved, GumTree, Fivver etc. and see what is selling, what is in demand. Make a list of several categories that you are interested in such as clothing, electrical etc.
• Go through the social media sites - especially the groups and see what is trending and fine tune your categories.
• Use these two operations to narrow down a field of what you might sell - say certain items in household goods.
Now narrow the field down by:
• Seeing what is already being sold, especially by the big sites and/or close by shops. You do not want heavy competition or saturation in the market.
• Checking that suppliers are available that will:
o Sell you small amounts to start with
o And will open up a credit account with you.
• You have some interest in what you can sell. A boring product area for you will tire you out very quickly and you will also lose interest in your company. Entrepreneurship is difficult and time consuming and you need some interest to keep you going.
Now, the most important part of your research - you need to find your market for these potential products.
What you are seeking is a window of opportunity as well as a ready market that will buy what you want to sell at a price you want to sell it at. A window of opportunity is you finding a ready market for what you want to sell. So back to the social media sites, especially the groups. Join in the discussions and see what they think about your potential products. This does NOT mean that you try selling- that is a quick way to get thrown out of the groups. Just generally chat about the interests of the group and use these conversations to fine tune your products.
The last part of your research is to find the price that you can sell your group of products at. This is best done by split testing. Set up some simple adverts on Facebook or Google. Set one up with one price to go to a set landing page and another with a different price to a different landing page. So as not to annoy your potential customers, use different websites and branding if you can. If this is not possible then do some more research and seek out what prices others offer the products at.
Once you have a potential price range then make a detailed check to ensure that you can sell at this price and make a reasonable profit.
Once all this research is undertaken you are ready to start your new business.
